Robert Backwell rejoins the Board of Helmsman Capital as Non-executive Director, having previously served as a Non- executive Director of Helmsman from 2005 – 2007. Rob has 12 years of experience in private equity as an Executive Director of the Macquarie Direct Investment (MDI) business gaining exposure to a broad range of sectors. Prior to joining MDI, Rob worked in the Macquarie Corporate Finance team for 6 years where he provided advice on mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings and corporate restructuring. He brings a wealth of relevant experience to the Helmsman Investment Committee and deal team.
